A Beni Ourain rug, hand-knotted from natural wool in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. The pile is thick and soft underfoot, and the graphic design works as well in a minimal living room as in a warm, layered bedroom.
Beni Ourain rugs were first woven by the Beni Ourain tribes of the Middle Atlas to keep their homes warm through cold mountain winters. Each one is still made by hand, one knot at a time, so no two are exactly alike.
Made to order. Your rug is woven in the size you choose and arrives in about 2 to 3 weeks. Because it is handmade from natural wool, the final size can vary by 1 to 4 inches. Need a size that isn't listed? We can weave it for you.
How your rug is made
Knotted by hand in the Atlas Mountains.
1. The wool
Our rugs start with sheep's wool from the Atlas Mountains, sheared once a year.
2. Washing and spinning
The wool is washed, dried in the sun and spun into yarn by hand.
3. Color
The yarn is either left in its natural cream, brown and black tones or dyed.
4. Weaving
A weaver sets up the loom and knots the rug by hand, row after row, from start to finish. A single rug can take several weeks.
5. Finishing
The finished rug is washed, dried and checked before it ships to you.
Because every rug is made by hand, no two are exactly alike. Final sizes can vary by 1 to 4 inches, and small irregularities in the pattern are part of what makes the rug yours.
Shipping and delivery
Every rug is woven to order by hand, so delivery takes about 2 to 3 weeks. You will receive a tracking number by email as soon as your rug ships.
Shipping is free in the US on orders of $200 or more.
Returns
If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you may return it for a refund or an exchange.
Return window
You have 30 days from the delivery date to return an item. Returned items must be new and unused, with all original tags and labels attached.
How to return an item
Email us at contact@roccan.us before sending anything. We will send you the return address and instructions. We cannot accept returns sent without contacting us first. Please pack the item securely, ideally in its original packaging.
Return shipping
You are responsible for return shipping costs. We recommend a trackable shipping method.
Refunds
Send us the tracking number of your return. Once the package is in transit, we process your refund or exchange. Refunds go back to your original payment method within 3 banking days. Exchanges take 3 processing days.
Exceptions
Items that show signs of use cannot be returned. If your item arrives defective or damaged, contact us and we will arrange a refund or exchange.

Questions
Will the colors match the photos?
Very closely. Natural wool and hand-dyeing mean small differences between screens and the real rug, which is part of what makes each piece one of a kind.
Can I get a size that is not listed?
Yes, at no extra cost. Send your measurements through our custom rug page or on WhatsApp and we will come back to you.
Does a new wool rug shed?
A little, for the first few weeks. Vacuuming regularly without a beater bar settles it.
Do I need a rug pad?
We recommend one. It keeps the rug in place on hard floors and helps it last longer.
Can I return my rug?
Yes. You have 30 days from delivery to return an unused rug. Email us first and we will guide you through it.
